Project description

The project aims to develop effective, functional, and sustainable biofertilisers for soybean. Capitalising the power of nature, we’re selecting nitrogen-fixing bacteria on a large-scale using nitrogen biosensors.

While soybean is not a traditional crop in Nordic countries, intensive efforts in plant research are allowing its cultivation across Europe, reducing our dependence on imported plant-protein. Our project stands at the intersection of sustainability and economic viability. By producing plant protein locally and utilising our sustainable biofertilisers, we are not only reducing the carbon footprint associated with food production and from chemical fertilisers but also boosting the economic prospects of European farmers.
