Preventing chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy
Applicant

Project description
Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a severe side effect provoked by several chemotherapeutics. CIPN causes less effective cancer treatment and pain for both cancer patients and cancer survivors. CIPN is caused by damage to pain-sensing neurons in the peripheral nervous system. We have developed a topical formulation of a well-known drug that will prevent the chemotherapy from damaging these cells and thus relieve symptoms among cancer patients. This will improve quality of life among cancer patients and survivors.
