Developing New Therapy for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
Applicant
Grith Lykke Sørensen
Project description
By 2040, CKD is projected to be the fifth leading global cause of death. Current interventions only slow disease progression and there is no medical treatment option for the dreaded end-stage known as kidney fibrosis. Our study is developing a new biological therapy for treatment of kidney fibrosis. The new therapy is in preclinical phase of development, is currently tested in two independent disease models, and has shown promising results. Successful outcome will advance our new therapy toward clinical development with the potential to provide CKD patients with a medical therapy where only dialysis or kidney transplantation is available today.
